Active International Children’s Day

In connection with June 1st – International Children’s Day, a colorful, cheerful, and energetic celebration was held in the town of Zlatitsa, organized by the Municipality of Zlatitsa and implemented by Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA). Hundreds of children took part in a variety of sports and recreational games, relay races, challenges, dance activities, and musical performances tailored to different age groups. The festive atmosphere provided an opportunity for the children not only to have fun and stay active, but also to socialize, work as a team, and build new friendships.

The event was organized under the leadership of Eng. Lyubomir Tsvetkov, Mayor of Zlatitsa, and the Municipality of Zlatitsa, with the support of Auribus Bulgaria. Thanks to the excellent organization and the dedication of BSDA volunteers, the children experienced an unforgettable day filled with smiles, positive emotions, and joy. The celebration became a true festival of childhood, physical activity, and community spirit, leaving a wonderful memory for all participants and their families.

In addition to the entertainment and sports activities, the event also conveyed an important message about the value of an active lifestyle and the role of sport as a means of developing confidence, social skills, and a sense of belonging. Through games and shared activities, the children had the opportunity to experience the values of friendship, respect, and fair play.

As part of the event, the #BeActiveTogether initiative, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, was also promoted. The initiative demonstrates how sport can be a powerful tool for social inclusion, empowerment, and active participation in society, creating opportunities for everyone, including people with intellectual disabilities, to be active, accepted, and fully integrated into the community.
